I didn’t know there was anything wrong. I didn’t realize that acne, bloat and gas was my body telling me I’M NOT HAPPY! I never questioned it. I just accepted it. When I met Dr Georgia Parousis she said she could help. She told me that my body was trying to get rid of the toxins in my body. She said if I was willing to restrict some foods, I could see big changes. I agreed to proceed. I agreed to put my health first and open my mind to new ideas and food choices.
Georgia predicted that gluten and dairy was going to be my issue. I didn’t think so. Dairy was a definite possibility, but not gluten. When I got the results back from my food sensitivity test (a blood test that measures how sensitive you are to over 200 foods) I was shocked. I learned I was sensitive to:
- Egg whites
I gave up all of these foods. It was difficult at first. I started a month before Christmas and I made it through. Of course I had a few treats. Of course I regretted some of my choices. Sometimes natural consequences are the best way to learn in life.
I have a different relationship with my body. My acne cleared up, the bloating went away. I never have gas anymore (and when I do, I wonder what did I eat?) I’m more mindful of what I put in my body. It’s not worth having foods that make me feel uncomfortable. It’s not about body image, it’s about feeling good from the inside out. I don’t feel deprived, I just make different choices. When I go to parties I don’t binge on carbs and cheese anymore. I don’t bloat so bad that I’m so uncomfortable the whole night and a day or two later.
I’m so happy I trusted my doctor. She knew what I needed and helped me every step of the way. It’s your turn to put yourself first. I promise you won’t regret it.
